Perhaps I channelled too much Rocking Jelly Bean on this one. Developed from an old sketch and re-imagined in mid-process.
I took several experiments on in this piece, trying to combine workflows between Procreate and Affinity Designer to import shapes and create flats for the bike, and using digital pencil to "energize" the underpainting and give it some texture. I like a little bit of loose brushwork and sometimes it ends up in the wrong places. :P

With regards to the Alternate version, the original lighting scheme strayed away from "realistic" streetlights toward a brightly lit pin-up subject, but I experimented with darkening the lighting so the subject was "on the edge" of the light, remaining mysterious while in focus. Not sure if it worked really, so its left as an "amuse-bouche". Mostly experiments work or fail, but sometimes they fall in between and I felt like that about this one: liked enough not to be forgotten, but not enough to be the "primary image". I guess that's the problem with personal work, caught in a landscape of fractal choices.

Criticism welcome.

Semi-rendered painting before being relegated to the scrap heap and later re-imagining. The pose didn't fit and I felt that the airplane needed to have more real-estate than I was willing to commit to to be worthwhile.
